Topic 7.7 Body Fuel

Which car burns more fuel, a compact car or a sport utility vehicle? If you chose the sport utility vehicle, you’re right. That vehicle has a bigger engine that requires more fuel to run.

Your body works the same way. Muscles are your body’s engine, and your muscles burn fuel at rest and during exercise. People who are trying to lose unhealthy body weight (fat) would benefit from progressive resistance training, which would help them build their muscles and burn more fuel (calories).

While burning more fuel in your body is good for your health, burning more fuel in cars is bad for the environment. Learn about how you can help bring about positive change.
