Topic 4.11 Stability

In this chapter you learned about stability and balance. Both are very important in physical activities from all levels of the Physical Activity Pyramid. But stability is important in all aspects of life and can be very important in preventing injuries, especially for older people. According to the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention), more than one-third of adults older than 65 fall each year, causing serious injuries. Deaths from falling total 13,000 each year.

Stability and balance are also required for many active sports and recreation activities. Make a list of activities that you are interested in and that require stability and balance. Search the Internet for a video example. Share this with your physical education teacher.
