Topic 1.7 Fitnessgram


Fitnessgram is a fitness testing program that assesses five components of health-related physical fitness that are important to overall health and function. They are aerobic capacity(cardiovascular fitness), body composition, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility. Many test items offer multiple options, so you can choose the method you prefer.

The assessment items include the following:

 

Aerobic Capacity (Cardiovascular Fitness)

 
  • PACER test
  • One-mile run/walk
  • Walk test (ages 13 and up)
 

Body Composition

 
  • Percent body fat (calculated from triceps and calf skinfolds)
  • Body mass index (calculated from height and weight)
 

Strength and Muscular Endurance

 
  • Abdominal strength and endurance (curl-up)
 
  • Trunk extensor strength and endurance (trunk lift)
 
  • Upper-body strength and endurance (choose from push-up, modified pull-up, and flexed arm hang)
 

Flexibility

 
  • Back-saver sit-and-reach

 
  • Shoulder stretch
