Topic 8.4 Active Recreation

Many active recreational activities can contribute to fitness, but building fitness is not the main purpose of active recreation. The main purpose of engaging in active recreation is for fun. You may have to try many different recreational activities before you find the one that is fun for you. The increasing popularity of outdoor activities such as rock climbing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, hiking, in-line skating, and skateboarding has made these recreational experiences more affordable and accessible for everyone. The philosopher Plato said, "Find your play." He probably was encouraging people to participate in active recreation for the health of body and mind.
