Topic 16.6 Avoiding Destructive Habits

Avoiding destructive habits is easier said than done because social pressures during the teenage years can often be overwhelming. But saying no the first time may be your best defense against unhealthy lifestyle habits.

Cigarettes, alcohol, and marijuana are often the first drugs children and teens experiment with. On their own, these "gateway drugs" are dangerous to your physical and mental health, but they are called gateway drugs because they are the first step toward harder and more dangerous drugs.

Be smart, don’t start!
