MyPyramid was created by the United States Department of Agriculture. It helps students classify the basic nutrients that are vital to healthy eating. There are six color bands in MyPyramid: orange for grains, green for vegetables, red for fruits, blue for milk, purple for meat and beans, and yellow for oils. Fitness for Life: Elementary School features different food groups from MyPyramid during each Wellness Week.

The Physical Activity Pyramid for Kids was developed specifically for Fitness for Life. It helps students classify the five basic types of physical activity that are important for achieving good fitness, health, and wellness. Fitness for Life: Elementary School is organized into four Wellness Weeks, and each week focuses on different activities from the Physical Activity Pyramid.
- Wellness Week 1 features moderate activity (Step 1: orange).
- Wellness Week 2 features vigorous physical activity, which includes vigorous aerobic activity (Step 2: green) and vigorous sports and recreation (Step 3: red).
- Wellness Week 3 features muscle fitness (Step 4: blue) and flexibility (Step 5: purple) activities.
- Wellness Week 4 features integrated activity (from all levels of the pyramid).

The pyramid shown here is a simple version of the Physical Activity Pyramid for Kids. The Fitness for Life: Elementary School program provides a more detailed version that is also available as a full-color poster.
